Seeing its humble beginnings in the spring of 2001, The Grog Lacrosse Club was founded by Kirk Stockton and company with the generosity and financial backing of Bill McClatchey and his pub, The Grog Bar and Grill in Bryn Mawr, PA. Playing its games at Villanova University, the Grog LC saw a few games that spring, playing mainly in scrimmages against the Browns Lacrosse Club and other local American Lacrosse League (ALL) teams. In the spring of 2002, The Grog became associate members of the ALL Philadelphia Division seeing a full slate of games versus the Browns, Harrisburg LC, Kelly’s LC, and Turk’s Head LC.
In the fall of 2004, the Grog LC transformed into the Gryphons Lacrosse Club, and was inducted into the ALL Philadelphia Division as full members eligible for the playoffs. In spring of 2007, the revamped Gryphs look to capture their first playoff berth in the fiercely competitive Philly Division, and also look to win some on-the-road contests at the 3rd Annual Icebreaker Tournament in Maryland. |
